Finally got there...

So, I know that I promised to pass on the awards today, but then I realized that picking the links will be a little difficult. Because of this, I'll have to use a bit more of a system. Part 3 of the Awards will either go up on Thursday or Saturday.

In the mean time, I want to draw your attention to the About Me section. Noticed anything different?

Yep. Half way. I hit 40k words yesterday! *Squee* It felt like it took me forever to get there. I definitely want to celebrate, but I can't figure out how yet. Suggestions would be appreciated. ^_^

Then... Tonight, I got picked for my first Solo. (Or should I say Sohigh?) I'm so excited. This will be a great chance for me to push my limits and see where my voice can go. Especially because I now reach notes that most of my choir-mates strain for without even putting in an effort. I'm now going to start with more formal classes and see where that will take me.

So how's your writing going? Any other good news?

  2. Hi Misha..40k words is great.

I have been busy reading from the last two days, actually as its a writing craft book, I am doing homework.

  3. Woot awesome that you've reached the halfway point in your manuscript. I had no idea that you sang and if there's a place on youtube that I could go to in order to hear your voice, I'd love it (please provide a link). Have fun at your solo :)

  9. When things go well, they go in a fantastic clumping fashion. Congrats! And good luck with your voice classes.

  10. Yeah! Half way is a nice point to be. Now when you look at what you have left to do it will *feel* better, because it won't look like so much. Keep up the good write!

It's kind of like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. One word written, is one less to write.

  11. Congrats on the 40k and the solo! I just got past the 3/4 mark, and I'm performing a duet with my sister this weekend. And playing guitar. In front of people.(eep!) I'd probably be one of those straining for the high notes--I'm what wikipedia calls a lyric contralto, lol. But halfway through is such a milestone! Good luck in getting down the last half!

  12. Aha Misha, that's great news that y'all have reached the halfway point. And singing high, yes indeed, I still remember that time I sang high after the ice hockey puck hit me in a ummmm..rather delicate spot :)
And how's my writing going? Why thanks for asking me, yes shy and humble me. Well my writing goes and goes and....
Happy writing Misha and keep going.
    Gary :)

  13. Woo hoo on the 40 K. I love the half way point. The end doesn't seem so far way. :D

I wish I could like you. But alas, I can't.

I'm half way through editing my current draft which my CP is reading as I worked through it. Two months, and I'll be sending my wip to my beta readers.

  14. 40K is awesome. Also how are your rewrites going that were to be finished by Apr 30?

    I'm slogging along editing/writing.

  18. Congrats on hitting 40K! If I were you, I'd celebrate by buying myself a book or two. But then, I'd use any excuse to buy more books :)

And all the best with the solo! I highly recommend finding a good vocal coach and sticking with it. I trained classically for about 5 years and then gave up because my instructor wasn't able to help me progress anymore, and I regret not seeking out someone else immediately afterward as I've now lost a significant portion of my vocal range. Maybe someday I'll get back to it. :) All the best to you!!!

  19. Congrats on reaching the half-way point. All downhill from here! Celebrate by going outside and taking a walk to get reacquainted with the sun.

  20. Yay 40k! My next draft is still in my notebook. Not sure how far along I am yet. :) Oh, and hooray solo! So exciting.

  21. Congratulations on your progress. I know that is difficult and challenging. A singer! I love to sing but I have one ear that doesn't hear properly so I can't always get the notes right. Good luck.

  22. Thanks Laura!

Sounds like interesting homework, Rachna. ;-)

Michael, I'm nowhere near good enough to record, but I'll see about getting my recital at the end of the year onto youtube just for you. :-)

    Thanks akossket. :-)

    Thanks Cherie! :-D

    Yes they are, Devin. :-)

    Thanks Golden!

    Thanks E.C.

Yes Schmidty, that's the best thing about things going well. They don't come alone. :-)

Bish, I was thinking about it today. I still have to reach the climax, but work-wise, it's going down hill from here. :-)

Nice Amanda! Both on 3/4 and the duet. All the best with both! :-)

Gary, may your writing keep going! :-)

I know what you mean Stina. My next goal is only 20k words away... :-)

Denise, the 40k is where I'm at with my rewrite. Hopefully I'll get the rest done in a third of the time. ;-)

That's a good way to look at it, Madeline. :-) Good luck with your idea!

    Lol thanks Rach. *hugs*

    Thanks Ellie!

    Thanks Hart! :-D

That's a great idea, Helen. I really should get out. :-)

Ann I wrote my first draft in a notebook too. I ended up dying of curiosity, so I took four days to count my words by hand. :-)

Thanks Nancy. I can't imagine what it must be like to sing with one ear that doesn't work right. I struggle when a cold closes my ears.
    :-)
