And now, I'm in an interesting predicament...

Today is the only weekday that I have off, so today was the one I picked to start studying for the huge (and hugely important) semester test that's coming up.

Despite not really feeling in the mood, I buckled up and started cruising through today's set of essays. And while I was by no means rushing through, I'm now finished.

Great, yes. But I'm too exhausted to go on, because I didn't let up untill I got through everything. I do this because I know that the moment I do something else, I'm not going to come back to the studies.

Hence, I am left with an entire afternoon stretching out in front of me.

And I don't have a clue as to what I should do with it.

I have a dvd to watch (during which I can perhaps finish my knitted cape) or I can exercise a little, maybe while reading something. I can revise some more, even though I've already gone through four chapters today. Or... I can catch up on blog visits.

Choices...

What do you do when you're suddenly offered a big block of time off?

  1. Usually I make tea, read for a few minutes and then decide when my head is clearer :) It works fairly well!

  2. I read with a cup of coffee/tea and chocolate. But that's just me ;)

  3. Read! Or, go somewhere that I always wanted to but haven't had the time... like a local zoo, outdoor park, cafe, or a new little shop. :)

  4. I usually find something that's been on the backburner, or I do some additional maintenance/cleaning of my turtles' habitats (stock tanks).

  5. I'd love to say I'm super productive with my free time, but I usually watch TV

  6. I leap onto a book, or I leap onto whatever writing project I have going (or start one!). I LOVE unexpected blocks of time, woo! Enjoy yours.

  7. When I am offered a huge block of time, I go and visit my friend Misha's blog so I can read about her interesting and fascinating life :)

    I'm such a suck up I know.

  8. I read! My to-read pile keeps growing and growing. I need more time in the day just for reading, LoL.

  10. I do everything I can in a huge block of time.

  11. A little bit of everything and then begin again if there's still time.

  12. I (don't tell anyone) mindlessly watch HBO series like True Blood.

  13. I read, blog, or scout out other online places I haven't been to in a while, usually.

  14. I usually read, either a good book or blog posts, but now that I discovered iMovie, I'm having fun seeing what I can do with it and I need to play around with it and read the help menu and tutorials. It seems like there's never enough time in a day for me. Hope you enjoyed your free time.

  15. I usually take those opportunities to read, or spend time talking with family and friends. I've also vegged in front of the television in a catatonic state a time or two. If I'm feeling energetic, I'll take a long walk or experiment with new recipies, since cooking is another passion of mine. It honestly depends on my mood.

  16. Hi Misha,

Being a full-time worker & daddy, free time is sparse.

However, when it occurs... I catch up around the blogosphere, read/edit others' short stories, write my own and, throughout, I chip away at the novel.

Well done on getting your studies done. Good luck with it.

    Best,
    Col

  17. Clean, haha. On the rare occasion that both my husband and daughter are out of the house I get down to business and start scrubbing floors.

But little blocks of time off I normally try to read others blogs and maybe catch up on a bit of reading or crocheting.

Good luck studying for your test!
