Insecure Writer's Support Group

Today's the first Wednesday of June, which means it's time for the Insecure Writer's Support Group. For those of you who don't know, this is Alex J. Cavanaugh's brainchild, where a whole lot of us get together to share our insecurities and encouragements. Any writer is welcome to join, so if you'd like more information (or to sign up), please click here

Last time around, I shared the huge insecurity that cropped up over the few days before then.

I'd like to say that I'm back to my usual preppy self, but...

If I said that, I'd be lying.

The sense of anxiety that had been dogging me didn't let go. It's still there, and it's still keeping me from writing. (I've managed to finish a round of edits, though, so at least I wasn't rendered completely useless.)

On top of that, there has been some more upheavals in my life that's constantly turning around in my mind. I'll probably talk about it in a while longer, but there's a lot that I need to come to terms with first. That, and I need to see if this month leads to better things or if I'm just going to chalk it up to the stuff I mentioned in the previous list. Yeah. It sucked that bad, at least for the first two weeks.

(Which is also the reason why I've been scarce lately. Sorry!)

Anyway, I've been limping along for the past month and really need to do something to get back on a writing track.

Problem is that I don't know what.

But it seems to me that clearing most of my social networking activities for a week or so won't be a bad idea. Just one guest post tomorrow and then I'm going to take a blogging break until Monday 13 June.

Hopefully I'll get some writing done then.

How are you doing?

  1. Oh gosh, I hope the upheavals settle down. Maybe... you could use your writing as an escape from the turmoil and anxiety. Write something new, something different. And remember to breathe.

  2. I'm sorry this has been such a rough patch. Sounds like you have developed some good tools to manage these swings. If you're being urged to take a social break, that will probably do you a world of good. Take care. Things will work out OK.

  3. I'm kind of in this weird - can't settle on one project, and can't seem to finish anything - state of mind . . . I'm hoping that his month is a better one than last.
I hope you have a great week and month and summer of writing and life!

  4. Sounds like you do need a break, if only to regroup your life.

  5. Sorry to hear things have been so challenging for you as of late. Good that you managed to do a round of edits during this time. Taking a blogging break sounds like a smart idea - will give you a chance to regroup. Hang in there.

  6. It sounds like a social media break is just what the doctor ordered! Sometimes it takes a bit of time to figure out what is wrong and where you want to go/how you want to "treat" it. Maybe with a few days away, you will come back with a clearer vision of how you want to proceed. Or at least I hope so, for your sake. :)

  7. I hope everything settles down. It can be difficult to write during times of upheaval. Plus, it's difficult to write when you're on a blog tour too. I hope you have a nice blogging break and get some time to write. :)

  8. Sorry life keeps you down. Don't push it, take a break. We all need it once in a while. Hopefully, everything will turn better soon.

  9. Well, I see I forgot what day it was. Will be late posting my ISWG again.
And sometimes it's hard to get back on track.

  10. I know that feeling. It's usually caused by life issues for me. Sometimes writing ends up taking the back burner no matter how I wish it didn't. Hopefully, things for you will turn around.

  11. Enjoy your break! You deserve it and I know you will come back refreshed when you are ready. Your bloggy friends will still be there. Life has been dealing us some tough cards lately and it's time to level up. Once we're through this, we'll look back and say it was totally worth it. That's what I keep telling myself anyway...

  13. I'm sorry you're having to deal with so much stress. Life on my side of the planet isn't much calmer. Try to keep in mind it will end and you'll get through it all just fine.

  14. Sometimes stepping back and giving yourself some time is the best. Hope you can do that and that all will come together soon.

  15. I do hope life calms down for you. It's hard to write when other things are going on, at least it is for me. Here's hoping that taking a break will recharge your internal batteries. Good luck.

  16. Hope you feel better soon. Why don't you sit down and write about what your feeling. I find that when times are tough (and there have been more than a few over the years) spilling my guts onto the page helped release some of the pent up negativity that usually accompanies crap. Give it a try! Wishing you brighter days and sending you lots of strength across the ether! Take good care of you!

  18. I think taking a break for a while sounds like a good plan - it sounds like you need it! Don't stress about the writing, it sounds like you have enough on your plate at the moment, you'll get back into writing when you feel ready :). Wishing you the very best of luck with everything
