So... I decided to change my blogs' looks.
It took me 12 darn hours to manage, because I had to change some html codes. Well... more specifically, I changed them, saved them and checked, but the blogs didn't change.
Yeah. Annoying as hell, because as far as I could discover, there was nothing to do but repeat the process again and again until it worked.
But yeah. I think it's worth it, don't you?
For one thing, the comments should be more visible.
OOOH! Speaking of comments. I've received more than a few messages with regards to the comments. Apparently some people just can't seem to comment on my blog. NO idea why. I do notice, though, that more than a few of them use wordpress.
So here's my question: Who would (for whatever reason) prefer if I cross-posted to my wordpress blog? The posts' content will be available. But maybe it would be more convenient for you? If it is, please send me a mail and let me know: mishagericke(AT)gmail(DOT)com.
On an unrelated note, I removed the lists of blogs I follow. For some reason, they were grossly out-of-date and for some reason they refused to accept wordpress blogs. I will gradually build them back up, though, in another format.
That's me for today.
What do you think about the new look? Any niggles you'd prefer me to fix while I'm at it? Think it's a good idea for me to cross-post?
It pulled up much faster, which is a good thing! Sorry it took you so long to make it work.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a problem leaving a comment.
And blogrolls can be difficult to maintain. I found out the hard way that once they get so big, you can't add or change them. (Which is why I have four shorter ones now.)
Alex is right. It did load faster.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had problems commenting. Yay!
Love the new look. :D

ReplyDeleteNice looking page. I don't use wordpress for my page but have had no problems commenting on others.
ReplyDeleteI like it.
ReplyDeleteI like it, Misha! It's refreshing, like chocolate mint.
ReplyDeleteLove the mint green. No problems with page load or leaving a comment (I think - let me press "publish" to confirm that!)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely like the new look! Easier on the eyes and the browser. :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Definitely worth the time spent.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your blog, Misha. I too have been thinking of changing the look of my blog, I just hope it does not take 12 hours.
ReplyDeleteLove the look and the color scheme! Definitely worth it.
ReplyDeleteHey...my comment registered super fast :)
ReplyDeleteI think blogger quit updating the wordpress blogs (and in some cases removing them from your blogroll) the same time they disabled GFC for non-blogspot blogs. At least this was my experience.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new look!
I like the new look.
ReplyDeleteYou should've seen me last year when I decided to switch my website for my YA series to a blog. I didn't think I'd ever get it set up right.
I like the new look and as others have said it loaded super quick which is a great plus point.
ReplyDeleteI like the new look~!! It looks nice. Recently, I also changed the look of my blog. It took a few hours to get it the way I wanted it, but eventually it worked out well. As for the comment subject, I do not use wordpress, but I never encountered any problems with commenting.

Blogger fail on the comments. I do like the new mint green.
ReplyDeleteI like the fresh new look. It's, well fresh and new ;-)
ReplyDeleteA niggle - I think the pale headings are a bit hard to read against the coloured sidebars
It looks nice.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to do html, it would probably take me longer than 12 hours. I just can't get the hang of it.
I've had problems with my blogroll too.
I'm one of the people who can never comment, but I'm giving it a go again in case your great new look has mixed things up. Fingers crossed...
ReplyDelete(PS. The colours are reminding me of choc-mint ice-cream!)
Hey, it worked!!!
DeleteLove the new look! And I've had issues with people not being able to comment as well. I still have trouble cleaning up the list of blogs I follow, maybe someday that will get fixed. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteI like the new look.
ReplyDeleteI have Wordpress for my blog, and I've also had enough tech problems that I've sometimes climbed the walls. The last thing I could do for anyone is give technical advice, because I'm terrible at it.
Misha, switching the comment option to the one where a little box pops up solves the commenting problem for a lot of people. Have you tried that?
ReplyDeleteI'm commenting without any trouble :) Love the new look of your blog! I too have a Wordpress blog, as part of my author website, and although I don't cross reference, I'll often re-post from one site to the other. I'd like to expand into following more Wordpress sites. To tell you the truth, I'm getting a little bored with Blogger.
ReplyDeleteVery nice design. Simple and understated- unique too! I have both Wordpress and GoogleId and have no problem commenting when I am logged on to both. Perhaps it's the browser they are using. I find google becoming more and more hostile to anything that isn't Googley owned. Firefox in general just freezes up a lot on me when I am doing stuff on my blog or watching YouTube (and for a while I couldn't even watch YouTube because Chrome was apparently interfering). CHeers!
ReplyDeleteHi, Misha! The new look is great! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback, ladies and gents!
ReplyDeleteHousekeeping always makes us feel good. Even if it takes some time.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it took so long to get things the way you wanted, but well worth the effort. The cool mint colour is refreshing, as someone already mentioned and the brown accents look like chocolate! (Mmmm, chocolate, drool drool!) I also found it loaded much faster than usual. We'll see how the comment works. You'll know if my wordpress ID works if you don't see Humpty Dumpty. :)
