Hi all! This is going to be a pretty short post, because I'm still preparing for my economics test tomorrow night.
Just thought I'd share this with you. This song came up during my studies and although it comes from a famous musical (and I have the original cast recording), something about the Josh Groban version just hit me between the eyes.
See, the lyrics pretty much sums up one of the Doorways characters. In fact, it sounds like it was written for him, especially for the sequel. But, I'm not going to tell you who it is... you'll have to wait and see... Or if you're a crit partner, you can guess. Yes. I am that evil. ;-)
Any songs that capture your characters exactly?
Would love to find one, still trying to work out how the characters think and feel! Argggh..
ReplyDeleteJosh Groban...yet another Juliard prodigy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting! I Love all the Chess music but haven't heard it in a while.
ReplyDeleteDon't have a flash player cannot watch the video. Not familiar with J. Graban suppose is new popstar. "Sings chess" ? What is chess? unless you mean Leonard Chess, the founder of Chess records, which made a big star of Chuck Berry
ReplyDeleteI like George Thorogood's "Bad to the bone" for a certain character.
Ace that test dear heart.
I love Chess. I've never heard Josh Groban singing it though.
ReplyDeleteI love it when I find a song that just so completely embodies one of my characters.
I haven't found any songs for the characters in my current WIP--though I did manage to come up with actors for them. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the video!
So I only know who Josh Groban is because I spent all weekend watching Glee and he's on two episodes. :D
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to a lot of music (no reason, really...), so I don't find a lot of inspiration in songs. But I'm glad it worked for you!! And do great on your test!!
ReplyDeleteerica
I'm not familiar with Chess (where have I been?) Excellent. And I haven't found any songs that fit my characters.
ReplyDeleteLove Josh, can't say I've heard this song. Thanks for sharing. Sade's song, "Kiss of Life" is the theme for one of my novels. Whenever I needed inspiration to keep writing, I played that song. LOve how music can do that.
ReplyDeleteGreat song Misha! Makes me super excited to read Doorways and I can't wait to see which character is about.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I'm listening to a lot of Green Day with my new writing in progress and some Taylor Swift. My MC is having some highs and lows at the moment, lol. :)
I am not very familiar with chess. Good luck with your economic test.
ReplyDeleteThere was a song several years ago by country star, Lee Ann Wolmack. The song is I Hope You Dance.
ReplyDeleteI felt it was the lifesong of one of my main characters.
Nice blog...
