A belated Update Day

Hey all!

No, I didn't forget it was update day on Friday. I was going to write the post in the evening after some work and errands, but when I returned, the internet was down and stayed down until late Saturday morning.

But since it's my bloghop, I'm figuring I have to put up my update.

And here it is:

March was the month from Hell. I was sick in the first week, away from my computer in the second week, and came back just in time to be stabbed in the back come week three.

Writing done: negligible.
Editing: none. Although I've brainstormed some stuff I want to put in when I'm editing.

So my goals for April... Well that's where it's complicated. I want to get back on track, but right now, I'm very far from the ideal head space and I don't think trying to push myself would be a good idea.

Instead, I'm going to let the dice fall where they will. I'm going to update you on progress made, if any, but I'm just not setting goals for April. Because that would be stupid of me.

How are you doing?

  2. Take all the time you need Misha. I actually forgot to take part in the goal hop on Friday and added a quick update on today's post. So sorry for all your hardships but I believe you will come out on the other side.

  3. Sit down and read. Nothing inspires me to write like a good book.

  4. Misha, just get back into it at your own pace.

  5. I was busy editing my manuscript after my editor made HUGE changes...only to get hung up emotionally. So now I'm writing a short story to just keep my fingers clicking, my mind working...and not feeling like a slacker.

  6. Doing okay here...except the furnace went out last night. Life always tosses something about it seems. Hang in there, Misha and get what writing related work done that you can this month.

  7. Sometimes you just have to roll with it and see what happens.

  10. I'm sorry things are so rough for you right now. I hope you can find a quick and satisfactory resolution so you can get back to your writing.

Today's the cover reveal for my debut. I'm super busy, but it's a good kind of busy.

  11. Have you considered writing something not related to your current WiP, just to write? Sometimes we need the reminder that we love it. Love it without pressure. No word count. No deadlines. Just writing for the sake of doing it. I don't know if that will help. I hope all of your publishing woes resolve soon.

  12. Sometimes the goal is just to survive!

  13. Sometimes, you just got to lay it down, shake your head to get where you need your head space to be than you can pick it up and go at it again.

  14. I like what Angela said. Maybe the message you're supposed to be hearing is to quit striving and trying so much and let it settle. Do a bit of breathing. :)

  15. I've been working on outlines for two different books for the last 2-and-a-half weeks. Just getting back into writing them and working on a short story at the same time.

  16. Hugs Misha. Nothing sucks the life out of my spirit quicker than disloyalty. That hurts. Sorry you got stabbed in the back, but remember, for every meany in life there are at least two goodies.

  17. Hey, I think you're making epic progress, especially in light of the recent developments. You're going to press through this, and you've got a cheering section behind you. Take it as you're able, and as long as you keep moving forward, we'll call that success. =)

  19. Sometimes life gets in the way. you have to give yourself a break when that happens and just start over. April 1 means it's a new month!

  20. I'm with Stephanie - definitely give yourself a break. And hallelujah for a new month, and hopefully a better one!

  21. If you're not feeling like writing then it's sensible not to try to push yourself too much. Hope April is a better month.

  22. I could have written this update myself. It's uncannily accurate for me too! On my way to UK I discovered the WIP I'd sent out to critiquers was in fact an older version (incomplete first draft) and panicked. When I searched for the draft I intended to send, I couldn't find it. GONE! I still cannot find it now I'm back from my holidays. So, I am way behind on this project and hugely embarrassed to boot. I feel your pain, Misha. All we can do is slog on. X

  23. We all have those moments when we feel like we're not getting anything accomplished (at least I know I do!). Sorry to hear you were sick! Hopefully April will be a better month for you! :)

  24. Hi Misha. I hope April is bringing better vibes and writing time. Maybe focusing on a new project and getting away from the other stuff would help. April is a good month to lie low if you're not doing A-Z, so it might also be a good time to get outside or work on other aspects of your life. Writing will always be there. Good luck! Rooting for you over here :)
