So today, I'm doing the insane thing. I'm going try and write 6444 words to hit 20k tonight. The reason is that I haven't been able to get and stay ahead so far, although I haven't fallen behind either.
But if I'm on the edge, one day spent say... packing... could put me behind. Two days like that and I'm almost screwed.
I basically stole today to devote to drafting and revision, and I don't know how long it'll be before I get another chance to get a huge chunk of writing done. So that's what I need to do.
In all, I have fourteen hours in which to get the writing/revising done. I have five fixed projects and three writing prompts that I can work on. So I have to write 805 words per project today, or 460 words per hour. If I look at it that way, today's goal looks doable.
But it's the hours... fourteen. I don't quite know if my mind can stretch that far. Only one way to see I guess... At the same time, I have to be careful. I don't want to push myself into burn-out territory either, because that will be no help whatsoever.
Anyway, that's what I'll be doing for most of today. But I'll also be stopping by at Kelly's blog, where I'm (ironically) talking about when to give up on what you're writing.
That's me for now. Hopefully I'll be able to get ahead enough to stop by some blogs too. Missing you guys. X
How's your NaNo going?
Exciting night last night as when I updated my wordcount, the bar turned green...I had caught up! I wasn't very far behind, but like you said ahead is better! Best of luck for a productive day!
ReplyDeleteWow! You set amazing goals--I hope that the writing goes well.
ReplyDeleteI'm not NaNo-ing. I'm editing and reminding myself to try and enjoy it. Drafting is my favorite part of writing, so I'm jealous of all you NaNoers :)
You can do it! One task at a time.
ReplyDeleteNaNo is going really well. I had a three-day weekend at the start of NaNo, which was great for getting ahead. Now I'm on track with writing at last 2,000 words a day. I want to finish by Thanksgiving (it's on Nov. 28 in the U.S.) so I can enjoy the holiday and spend that weekend decorating for Christmas without worrying about my word count.
Good luck with your writing today, Misha!
Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
Good luck getting ahead Misha. And remember that you are trying to get ahead, so if you fall a little short, you'll actually still be okay because you won't be behind.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for today! And the rest of the month too. I hear you about wanting to get a good bit ahead in case disasters crop up. I've only had time to stay ahead by a few words, although I wanted to get a bit more done each day, it hasn't happened. I'm now fixated on the 50k though so I would do my darnedest to catch up if that was necessary. A little bit of pressure can be good sometimes!
ReplyDeleteJust pedal to the metal and get it done!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your NaNo goals Misha.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I will find you on the nano site :) I've been plugging away here, too.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...I'm happy to revise 2 chapters a day a d write ideas and scenes down in between heads of hair.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for today~! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for my progress with NaNo, it's been held at a freeze point. I have been on a writer's block. I recently blogged about it. With the writer's block, studying for exams and working, NaNo is struggling to squeeze it's way through. Hopefully something will come to mind soon.
Good luck with your NaNo. ^^
Hey Misha,
ReplyDeleteHow busy you are. Packing and writing. Although I would never enter NaNo or NoNo, in my case, I'm wishing you much fulfilment.
Gary :)
I don't do nano but I just started a novel this month.
ReplyDeleteYou are really busy. I hope you enjoy the challenge, Misha!
Have fun.
Keep on going, your Nano count is going well. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteMisha, I've nominated you for an award. Check at my blog if you wish to accept. http://cathrinaconstantine.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI'm not participating this year but I'm a freelance writer for a living, so I write about 5,000 words a day in addition to fiction. Sounds like you're making great progress!
