A well-written blurb can suck me into reading a book almost as quickly as a poorly-written one makes me turn up my nose.

I think a writer HAS to feel empathy for her characters. If she doesn't care about them, how can she possibly make her readers care? I think when you write something powerful it's very difficult but also connects more strongly with the reader. While writing Peter there was a scene that took me three days to write, even though it's not all that long. But it's one of the best in the book. (I'll let you read and figure out which one!)Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13464393340517511305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5190412120537448720.post-49436193608721430282016-02-11T13:13:20.512+02:002016-02-11T13:13:20.512+02:00Hi M! And I agree, critique groups are so necessary to flesh out problems or holes in the story. On being empathetic to a character. One manuscript had a character down a dark musky basement with lots of spiders she ran into in the dark. I hate spiders and each time I wrote the scene ior read it, I got the chills. Was so glad to finish that chapter. Heading over to your website now.Karen Baldwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01522178275164058849noreply@blogger.com
